Pontypridd FC Under 13s travelled up the A470 on Saturday morning to play Penydarren BGC at The Bont Playing Fields in Merthyr Tydfil. The sides met a week earlier at the Maritime in a league cup game with Penydarren BGC triumphing. It was another defeat for the Ponty youngsters, going down 7-2. Despite once again battling hard for the duration of the game, it wasn’t the best of days for the side. Our goals were scored by Mani Owen and Dylan Matthews (making his debut).
Reflecting on the match the under 13s coach Ryan Wheeler said: “The team did not play well today, nowhere near the standard we have set ourselves. The boys have to work harder in training and concentrate more during games.”
However, several individual performances were highlighted:
“Corey Foggarty is excelling in every game and someone we believe has a big future in the game if he continues to develop the way he is. Corey was our man of the match”.
“Mani Owen again led by example and is another player improving all the time; a great captain’s effort”.
“Ruben Owen played centre midfield today, which is not his normal position, but showed bite and a huge work rate; another player improving all the time”.
Next up for the under 13s is a trip to play Llantwit Fardre on Saturday 13th October.
