Despite the torrent onset by Storm Callum, our under 13s side braved the conditions by playing away to Llantwit Fardre on Saturday morning. Full credit to both sets of players for showing willing and to Llantwit Fardre for putting the game on at Central Park. Unfortunately, our lads suffered a 9-2 defeat against a very strong outfit. Despite the result there was more evidence of the continued improvement this season. Evan Sienczyk scored both Pontypridd goals.
Speaking about the match, coach Ryan Wheeler said: “This season has seen the players developing well and this clearly building confidence and team spirit, which can only be good for the squad”.
The under 13s coaches were keen to highlight some individual performances:
Evan Sienczyk – worked his socks off up front and was rewarded with two goals, following the form that earned him under 13s player of the month for September.
Jack Jones – as consistent as ever with his work rate and boundless energy; he continues to improve with every game.
Callan Young – continues to put in quality performances every week and plays for the team, not himself; a true team player.
Next for the under 13s is a trip to FC Caerffili on Saturday 20th October 2018.
