The under 13s took on Gurnos at the Maritime last Saturday. They started well, taking the lead thanks to a Mani Owen penalty. Gurnos pegged Ponty back with an equaliser before the big turning point in the game. A goalbound Gurnos shot was saved on the line by Mani Owen with his hands, leaving the referee with no other choice than to send off Mani and award a penalty (which was converted). The side struggled from this point with a player deficit and by half-time were 5-1 down. In the second-half the youngsters battled hard, but Gurnos added further damage to run out 8-1 winners.
The coaches wanted to draw attention to several good performances from this match.
Owain Capper – he is beginning to fit in and looked really strong in the centre of midfield, winning our man of the match award in this game.
David Audu – a player who is starting to show real promise and getting better with every game.
Kaden Harris – He’s starting to realise his potential, always giving 100% and happy to play in whatever position the team requires without any fuss; a true team player.
The under 13s play Penydarren BGC in the league this Saturday at the Maritime.
