Last Saturday Pontypridd FC under 13s welcomed Penydarren BGC to the Maritime. The sides had already met twice this season, once in the league and once in the cup, with Penydarren running out winners on both occasions. They made it three wins out of three against our youngsters with a comprehensive 9-0 win. Without Mani Owen and Callan Young it was always going to be a tough ask, but it was a disappointing performance given the standards the under 13s have been setting this season.
Under 13s coach Nigel Wheeler commented: “there were too many players not putting enough effort in and working for the team. There was an improvement in the second-half but the damage was done. Penydarren are a very good team and you cannot expect any other result when we play like that.”
Two individual performances were highlighted:
Corey Foggarty – outstanding again and becoming a quality goalkeeper, without him it could have been far worse.
Jack Jones – battled throughout the game.
The under 13s are home again this weekend, Llantwit Fardre visit the Maritime.
