Pontypridd FC under 13s hosted FC Caerffili at the Maritime on Saturday morning and had to settle for a point after being held to a 1-1 draw. Dylan Edwards’ goal gave Ponty under 13s a half-time lead and they looked like they would hold on but a late equaliser for the visiting side denied the youngsters a third win of the season.
Nevertheless, the performance pleased the coaches and they believe it is further evidence of how well this group of players are developing and maturing as a team. Last season the team managed four points (1 win, 1 draw) as an u12 side, to double that and get improved results against teams they were losing by double figures against last season is tribute to the hard work and the commitment from the boys.
Man of the match was Callan Young, who produced another strong performance at centre-back. Owain Capper also impressed and continues to show why he’s been such an asset to the group since joining. The display from Oliver Bailyes was also noted by the coaches.
Well done to all the lads. Next week they welcome Llantwit Fardre U13s to the Maritime in a re-arranged league match. As the side currently sitting top of the table, this will be a very tough challenge but everyone at the club wishes them the best of luck.
