FIRST TEAM | 7 new players join for 2019/20 season

Club News, First Team

This week we have confirmed the signing of seven new players to the senior squad ahead of the 2019/20 season. The players signed bring a good range of skills and experience to the club and a competitive squad is beginning to take shape as we head into the pre-season schedule.

The players signed are:

Aled Evans – an experienced player who joins after several years playing for Aberystwyth Exiles in the Cardiff Combination League. A Rhondda native, Aled played for Ferndale and Ynyshir in the former South Wales Amateur and South Wales Senior Leagues.

Lucas Hickman – a former Pontypridd Town youth player who is well-known to several of the players in the squad. Lucas is a versatile and athletic footballer who will be an asset to the side in a variety of roles.

Lewis Watkins – a very good shot-stopper who will add genuine competition for the number one jersey. A former Llantwit Fardre youngster, Lewis’ experience in senior football has been mostly in Sunday football.

Bradley Harris – a tenacious young right back who despite being just 18 years old has had spells at Rhydyfelin and Wattstown. Bradley is also a coach with our under 14s team and we are delighted to welcome his promising talent into the senior set-up as a player.

Gus Wyatt – Another former Pontypridd Town youth player, Gus initially joined the club last season. He moved to Nelson Cavaliers in the second-half of the campaign and gained senior football experience with Nelson’s 2nd team. We are pleased to have Gus back with us and look forward to help him continue his development as a player.

Owain Lewis – A talented player with past experience at Graig and Rhydyfelin. A local player who has returned to the game this summer after a few years out of football. Another promising addition to the squad, it’s fantastic to welcome Owain on board and back to football with us.

Matthew Bennett-Jones – Another local lad looking for a route back into senior football and another who has really bought into the determination among the senior squad already this summer.

On behalf of everyone at the club, a warm welcome to Pontypridd FC to all our new additions.
