Pontypridd FC under 14s played their second league game of the season last weekend. It was a tough trip to an excellent Llantwit Fardre side and that was reflected in the scoreline as the boys came away from Llantwit’s Central Park on the end of a 10-0 defeat.
Realistically, the season is never measured by matches against such opponents and although the coaches knew it was a tough assignment to go up against “a quality Llantwit team” there was some disappointment about the “lacklustre first-half performance” saw meant our boys went into the break 7-0 down. The players rallied in the second-half but after such a positive performance in the season-opener versus Cwrt Rawlin, the coaches felt there wasn’t the same effort as last week and were keen to stress the players need to give 100% in every moment of every game.
Owain Capper was nominated as the Pontypridd player of the match. The displays of Mani Owen and Ellis Huish were also highlighted.
“Mani, our captain and leader, always gives 100% and leads by example,” the coaching team explained. “Ellis is a new player this season who has some excellent effort and will be a good addition to the squad.”
The under 14s are at home again next weekend, Llanbradach visit Ynysangharad Park on Saturday morning.
