The under 14s produced an excellent performance last Saturday, beating Pontyclun Blues 1-0 at Ynysangharad Park. Alfie Chruchill’s first half goal was enough to separate the two teams in a very tight affair of few clear cut goalscoring chances.
The excellence of the performance was underlined by this being the under 14s first match since and the coaches believe this was the best team performance this group have produced since they came together. No single player was marked out above any other as man of the match but there are a few shout-outs.
Mani Owen produced a true captain’s performance, leading the way with a powerful performance at centre half. Evan Sienczyk battled extremely well in midfield and he was complimented by a hard-working display from Jordan Letheridge. Both players worked tirelessly for the team. Corey Foggerty also excelled with a commanding display between the posts.
Club chairman Nigel Wheeler remarked he felt this was the best result these boys have experienced and paid tribute to the parents who have stuck with the team through good and bad times. A great step forward in their continued development.
