Pontypridd FC suffered a crushing 5-1 town derby loss to Graig in the Taff Ely Rhymney Valley League Premier Division.
The game, played at the Maritime Recreation Ground while Ynysangharad Park remains unavailable due to pitch renovation work, was effectively decided by three Graig goals – all containing an element of Ponty self-destruction – in nine first-half minutes.
Ponty had chances to reduce the deficit before half-time but those missed opportunities – and others after half-time – were punished by two more Graig goals in the second-half (including an own goal) before Geraint Lewis scrambled home an injury time consolation goal to at least deny the home team a clean sheet.
Hardly worth a celebration though as Graig took home a fully deserved win and the bragging rights.
