Pontypridd FC reserves fell to a sixth defeat of the season but it wasn’t for a lack of trying as they squandered enough chances to win several games in a narrow loss to Nelson Cavaliers Reserves.
Ponty played with purpose and confidence for most of the 90 minutes, carving open the visiting defence time after time. A combination of very poor finishing, a lack of composure in front of goal and some good saves from the visiting custodian denied the hosts a first ever win.
Nelson, to their credit, dug in after they took a surprise first-half lead and took home the three points with a classic smash and grab.
