Pontypridd left it late but two goals in the final minutes saw them complete a turnaround smash and grab victory over Cilfynydd AFC at Ynysangharad Park.
It was the home team’s first ever win in the park and the fourth of their debut campaign in the TERV Premier Division, lifting them 8 points clear of the bottom two.
Dan Perry and Huw Morgan were the heroes for the home side in a late rally when for much of the second-half it looked like Cilfynydd’s 49th minute strike would secure them the win.
In a tight first-half where clear chances were few and far between, Perry came closest to breaking the deadlock for the home side. The second-half started with a good chance for Jack Watkins but he blazed over and soon after the visitors took the lead after a rare handling error by Alex Mitchell-Charmain.
Cilfynydd had several chances to extend their lead but failed to take them; ex-Ponty player Lewis Roberts came closest when his drive hit the post. But the home side dug in and remained in the game. Perry’s header from Kieron Cook’s free-kick looked to have earned Ponty a share of the points before Huw Morgan’s persistence in chasing down a loose ball was rewarded with a close-range winning goal.
