Justice for the Reserves with first point of the season

Match Report, Second Team

Justice Igwe Ebi scored his first goal for the club to earn the Reserves a hard-earned point against TERV Division One pacesetters Treforest Reserves.

In the first game of the season on Ynysangharad Cricket Field, the visitors came into the fixture on the back of 13 straight competitive wins stretching back into last season, whereas the Ponty side were on a nine-match competitive losing streak.

It was the in-form Treforest side that broke the deadlock in the first half through a very fortuitous goal. After a cross hit the post, the rebound bounced off Ethan Wilde into the goal.

However, the home team’s heads didn’t drop and although they had keeper Michael Krawcow to thank for some good saves, when Ebi burst through to score in the second-half it was the least their efforts deserved.

Both teams went in search of the win; Krawcow was the busier of the two keepers but Isaac Oguejiofor almost snatched three points for Ponty at the death.
