Banner’s brace brings Black Sheep success

Match Report, Youth

Spencer Banner scored a brace on his debut to help Pontypridd AFC Youth defeat FC Cwmaman Youth, despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

Following a win and a draw in the last two fixtures, the Black Lambs were hoping to continue their positive start to their league campaign. Alfie Berrett was on hand to give them the perfect start with an early goal.

However, Berrett wouldn’t see out the half after two yellow cards in a minute saw him sent off by referee Marco Griffiths seven minutes before the interval.

Despite the player deficit, Ponty doubled their lead soon after half-time through Banner. Cwmaman hit back quickly through Hopkins before Banner’s second goal in three minutes restored the two goal cushion.

Cwmaman’s struck to keep the game alive in the final quarter but any hopes of the visitors spoiling Ponty’s day were extinguished by late goals from Tomas John and Charlie Hobby.
