Pontypridd AFC Reserves failed to continue their recent unbeaten run, falling to defeat away to Hopkinstown in a game that was much more competitive than the scoreline indicates.
In a bright start for Ponty, Liam Griffiths had a chance to open the scoring but it was the hosts that broke the deadlock in the 12th minute. One-nil at half-time, there was everything still to play for in the second-half.
However, struggles with the long-ball over the top was the Black Sheep’s Achilles heel and they were punished by two more goals for the hosts. Sam Kjeseth did grab a late consolation goal and shortly after had a chance for double helpings but he couldn’t come up with the cash for a winning scratch at the Hopkinstown end.
A fourth goal in the last minute for the hosts on the counter put the icing on their victory.
