Ponty lose in Ynysangharad Park goalfest.

First Team, Match Report

Pontypridd AFC were on the wrong side of the result in an entertaining, high-scoring encounter with title chasing Cilfynydd AFC at Ynysangharad Park.

The Black Sheep were underdogs going into this local derby with visitors Cilfynydd on the heels of Talbot Green for the top spot and the hosts sitting bottom of the table with just one win this season. Lewis Roberts struck the opener against the odds, his first Premier Division goal of the season coming against his former side.

However, Cilfynydd showed a clinical touch with three first-half goals in response, before Ashley Moyle’s 11th goal of the campaign gave Ponty hope on the stroke of half-time.

The sixth goal of the game would be crucial. It was Cilfynydd who got it just before the hour and Ponty were unable to come back again.

Results elsewhere mean bottom-placed Ponty are now seven points adrift of safety with eight games left to play.
