Goals from Seb Cegielka and Lewis Roberts helped Pontypridd AFC start life in the Taff Ely Rhymney Valley League Division One with three points.
Despite relegation last season, the Black Sheep carried the momentum from their Bernard Martin cup run at the end of the last campaign and picked up a victory away to a team that have been very strong at this level in recent campaigns.
Following a goalless first hour, the game turned Ponty’s way with the introduction of Seb Cegielka, who scored within seconds of arriving on the pitch. Ten minutes later Lewis Roberts doubled the lead with an early contender for goal of the season. Nathan Warren replied for the hosts but the Black Sheep held on to take home their first ever opening day league win.
