Pontypridd AFC Youth produced a stunning comeback to defeat Heolgerrig Red Lion Youth in a nine-goal thriller to open the new South Wales Youth League campaign with a win.
Spencer Banner gave Ponty the perfect start with a second-minute penalty but the Merthyr valley side then took charge of the game with four unanswered goals. 4-1 down after 53 minutes, the game looked beyond the home team. However, the introduction of Alfie Berrett and Harley Williams from the bench helped turn the game around.
Three goal in six minutes levelled the game just after the hour mark before Williams – a former junior player making his return to the club in this game – scored his second and the winner in the closing minutes.
