Pontypridd AFC Ladies progressed into the second round of the SWFA Women’s Cup following a hard-fought win over Gwent-based Undy AFC Women.
An early own goal and Leah King’s second-half penalty put Ponty in command on the scoreboard but in reality a spirited Undy side made this a difficult afternoon for the Ponty women who looked disjointed following a 28-day gap since their last fixture.
While the women didn’t display the kind of football they have shown themselves capable of, they showed plenty of resilience to hang on and hold off Undy’s pressure; including a dramatic late save from stand-in keeper Megan Voyle to deny Undy a penalty shootout.
