The first team went top of the TERV League Division One, continuing their best ever start to a league campaign with their fifth straight league win. This victory over Cwm Welfare Reserves is also the first time in the club’s history four consecutive games have been won.
It didn’t come without difficulty against a side that have yet to earn a point this season. In the first half, teenage strike sensation João Leal failed to convert a penalty and when Cwm Welfare substitute Dylan Elliot broke the deadlock early in the second-half, an upset was threatened.
That upset looked like it would deny the Black Sheep a cud of history until a remarkable minute thirteen minutes from time. Ponty substitute Lewis Roberts levelled matters in the 77th minute, then in the same minute Leal made up for his earlier miss to complete the turnaround and secure the win that took Ponty to the top of the league and made club history.
