Next Ryan Mehenni gave Ponty the lead with a rare goal and a contender for goal of the season already. Thrashing the ball over the goalkeeper from 30 yards a wonderful strike indeed. To cap off this dominant spell Williams got his second following some nice link up play with Artur Cegielka.
Right before half time, Llanbradach pulled one back with a screamer of their own from 25 yards. HT Llanbradach 3-2 Ponty.
A poor start to the second half saw Llanbradach score 2 goals in 2 minutes to put them in a well deserved lead. 12 Minutes later the home team struck again making it 5-3 and a mountain to climb for the Black Sheep. On the 75th minute Stephen Johnson’s debut was overshadowed as he received a red card after being substituted. This summed up a poor second half performance that proved costly for the reserves and ultimately saw the home team run out 5-3 winners.
MOTM – Connor Bickford who captained the team on his 50th appearance for the club and was calm and composed throughout the game even under the relentless pressure from the home side.

Head Coach Liam Griffiths Comments : Really disappointing result especially after how well we played in the first half. The second half ultimately cost us as the performance levels dropped and some sloppy mistakes led to goals. It’s a long season and there are still some rusty legs out there due to the short pre season. We also have to take the positives from that performance, especially the first half and our attacking play, the goals scored and chances created. The lads know what we expect from them and they’ll be looking to bounce back on Saturday.
