Dominant performance seals double delight for the Black Sheep

Match Report, Reserves Team

The lads starting a bit slow this game and Cilfynydd had the earliest chance with an effort from range looking destined for the top corner.
However you will have to get out of bed a lot earlier if you wish to catch Alex Mitchell-Charman out. Who produced a brilliant save.
That kicked the lads into action and what started them on a dominant performance throughout the game. A point blank save denying captain Owen Kingsbury the opening goal.
Ponty continued to create chances plenty, but would see efforts strike the woodwork and be cleared off the line.
HT 0-0
Seb Cegielka was introduced into the midfield after the break.
On the 50th minute Pontypridd had the goal they deserved as Owen Kingsbury made the most of a defensive mix up and rounded the keeper to tap into an empty net.
Five minutes later the visitors pulled a goal back against the run of play due to a lapse in concentration.
That did not prevent the lads from keeping the pressure up and continuing to threaten at every opportunity.
A free kick from Huw Ward was just wide with the goalkeeper stranded.
Dan Perry also came close as his header crashed against the post.
On the 66th minute the lead was restored thanks to a well delivered corner from Huw Ward, which was met by Owen Kingsbury who headed home.
The lads managed the game well and should have gotten another goal but a couple of poor decisions in the final third prevented that.
It was enough in the end as Pontypridd saw out the remainder of the game and took home all three points.
MOTM: Cian Cooper – An improved performance from Cian, dealt with every challenge and came out on top every time. His energy down the left hand side was excellent.
Special Mention: Owen Kingsbury leading the side today and getting on the scoresheet twice, although another day he could have taken home the match ball.
Hywel Patterson stepping in at CB and looking comfortable, winning every duel that came his way.
Head Coach Liam Griffiths Comments: The result today was well earned, we know what we are capable of and today we demonstrated that. Not only playing attacking football and creating numerous chances but also being difficult to break down.
We need to take today’s result and build on it, but we also know as a collective we can go up another gear.
Finally just like to mention the referee we had today. Kyle is 17 years old and I thought he had a fantastic game. I hope more youngsters follow in his footsteps which would be fantastic for the game at this level
