The Black Sheep bring football back to Taff Vale Park

Club News

Pontypridd AFC are delighted to confirm from Saturday 18th October all senior men’s and women’s home fixtures will be played at Taff Vale Park.

The move completes our connection with the original Pontypridd AFC – whose story inspired our club – as we begin a new chapter on the grounds that once housed the Taff Vale Park stadium where Pontypridd’s first ever professional club played Southern League and Welsh League football between 1911 and 1926.

The club committee thanks Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council for supporting our application and facilitating the move to our new home.

Our first fixture will be a men’s senior fixture against Rhydyfelin Non-Pol this Saturday, 2pm kick off, in what the club believes will be the first competitive football match on the ground in nearly 100 years.

The women’s senior team will play their first fixture at Taff Vale Park the following day versus Aberaman Ladies & Girls FC (also a 2pm kick off), in what the club believes will be the first ever competitive women’s match on the ground.

A club official said of the move: “There is a massive buzz around the club now this move has been finalised. The connection with football history in the town was too hard to resist and we have never been silent in expressing how much the original Pontypridd AFC inspired the formation of our club.”

“Ynysangharad Park has been a fantastic home for the past few years but Taff Vale Park offers opportunities that could really take the club to the next level.”

“We are really looking forward to writing a new page in our history this weekend.”
