Develop From Within

If Pontypridd Association Football Club has a mission statement it is based around the adopted motto ‘Develop From Within’ (or #DevelopFromWithin). Echoing the five directors that formed the professional Pontypridd Association Football Club in 1911, the modern-day committee want to keep a football club bearing the town’s name in the heart of the Pontypridd community, as well as tapping into the resources the Pontypridd area has to offer in terms of playing talent, volunteers and commercial partners.

Over the long term the aim for Pontypridd AFC is a community partnership, a sporting and social entity that works for and with the local community. Our vision includes:

• Developing a community-focused football club based in Pontypridd with a comprehensive compliment of sides from senior down to Under 6s.
• Providing opportunities at senior level for local players to enjoy playing competitive football in the Welsh football pyramid.
• Being an inclusive club that works with and for the community of Pontypridd.
• Promoting and establishing positive commercial relationships with local businesses.

In football terms, Pontypridd AFC’s goal is to establish a football club that provides playing opportunities at senior level for local players in the Welsh football pyramid. Our long-term goal is to try and progress from local to regional football.

As we progress we want to develop a comprehensive junior section with the goal of providing opportunities for young players in the Pontypridd area to play locally, with access to encouraging and well-qualified coaching, in an environment that promotes many of the positive values team sports can instill. The club’s small-sided football was formed in 2021 and we currently offer football for boys and girls in the under 6 and under 7s age groups.

When setting up the club’s management structure, we wanted to be as inclusive as possible and bring together a range of people with a variety of skills and experience to help start the club on a strong foot. To this end the present management committee includes members of the both the coaching and playing staff, as well as a variety of representatives from around the Pontypridd community. This football club is not a closed shop and we welcome anyone who is interested in, wants to support or help the club in any way possible to get in touch and speak with us.

Our commitment to ‘Develop From Within’ also means Pontypridd AFC are keen to work with and help promote local businesses. Our current club sponsors are Western Security Systems Ltd, Prichard’s Holdings Ltd and DM Recycling Services. Our social base is The District Club in Graigwen area of Pontypridd. In the 2023/24 season we introduced player sponsorship, building relationships with even more local businesses for a modest investment. We will continue to support local businesses and as a club we are open to all sponsorship opportunities with space for advertising on this site, as well as in programmes we may produce for future matches.
