Pontypridd AFC Reserves were beaten in their first home league game of the season by a youthful Treforest Development side.
Inconsistency of player availability meant player-coach Liam Griffiths was forced to field another patched up side including players carrying knocks or returning from injury, as well as a few former players once again persuaded to come out of hibernation to help put a squad together.
The challenge proved too much against a fit and energetic opposition.
MOTM – Alex Mitchell-Charman. Captain on the day and no fault for any of the goals, made many saves to prevent a bigger defeat.
Special Mentions – Callum Rendell. First training session on Thursday, signed on Friday, debut on Saturday. A promising start with the club in difficult circumstances.
Leon Ivin. Made his debut returning from injury after joining in pre-season.
Player-coach Liam Griffiths said: “A tough game today against a fit team but not helped by so many players again being unavailable. All I want to say about this game is thank you to the players that stood up for the club today, made themselves available despite some being injured or moving things around to help us put a team out and make sure the game was played.”
“We will bounce back but we also need more commitment across the squad to give us the best chance in these games.”
