Pontypridd AFC Reserves’ campaign started with defeat at Rhydyfelin Non-Pol Reserves at Upper Boat.
The Black Sheep fielded an experienced side for the league opener, but a Non Pol side boosted by recruitment from other local teams towards the end of last season and during the summer were too strong on the day. James Banfield was a standout performer, scoring twice. Michael Clare’s late strike at least gave Ponty a consolation.
The game also saw a Pontypridd debut for summer signing Kian Lacey as a late substitute.
