Thomas at the double in Reserves win

Match Report, Reserves Team

Pontypridd AFC Reserves put aside the disappointment of losing their opening day defeat to register a comprehensive away win at AFC Bargoed Reserves.

Hywel Patterson’s appearance in the starting line-up brought up his 150th senior appearance for the club, a new milestone for the club stalwart.

There was a senior club debut for Corey Foggarty too, who played for the Black Sheep up to u16s before earning a professional contract with Cardiff City and last season he was part of Cambrian United’s squad that won promotion to the Cymru Premier. Corey’s return to the club is a real coup, he will bring superb quality and experience to the side.

With Taff Vale Park still unavailable, this fixture was reversed but the Black Sheep ensured there was no advantage lost in a clinical second half display. Levi Thomas – who re-joined the club in pre-season – showed a killer touch with two quickfire goals early in the second half. Substitute Cameron Hughes added a third before a late own goal added even more gloss to the scoreline.

Reserves manager Liam Griffiths was delighted with the turnaround after defeat against Non-Pol Reserves three days before and will now challenge the team to take this level of performance into the upcoming fixtures.
