Caitlin Escott scored a second half hat-trick as Pontypridd women stormed to their first league win of the season, putting eight past Abertillery Belles at Taff Vale Park.
Captain Kate Ward led the team out for her 50th club appearance and even with the rare absence of striker Brook Morgan, the Black Sheep showed a clinical touch in front of goal.
Leah King opened the scoring midway through the first half and while Abertillery were soon level, the introduction of 16 year old Nia Lloyd from the substitute’s bench helped give Ponty a lead at the break as she struck on the stroke of half-time.
In the second half, Escott very much took over, completing a 21-minute hat-trick. There was a second for Lloyd, as well as goals from Megan Voyle and recent signing Shania Mudd as the Black Sheep completed a much needed and emphatic win.
